You may use the train system to get to the other states of Malaysia. Ease of access to other nearby countries is a short plane journey away.

Weather
Malaysia has a warm and humid climate throughout the year with a daily average temperature range of 24 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.

Language
Malaysia has four official languages; English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil. English is widely spoken.
note: In East Malaysia there are several indigenous languages; most widely spoken are Iban and Kadazan

Malaysia is a shopping haven and most stores stay open till 10:00pm daily, even on public holidays.

Taxes
There is a 10% service tax plus a 5% Government tax in hotels and restaurants.

Generally tipping is not required.

* Banks and Government offices:
In general, banking hours are from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
* Offices:
Most offices are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday and 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays.
* Shops:
Operating hours vary but generally open from 10:00am to 10:00pm from Monday through Saturday. Most are open on Sundays.

Eating Out
Malaysia is a food paradise with a galore of food outlets. Select from traditional local fare at hawker centres to international cuisine served at the finest restaurants. Enquire at the Hotel's Concierge for some recommendations.

Moving Around
Malaysia operates a good public transportation systems. Light Rail Transport (LRT) or Putra Trains or Kommuter Trains (KTM) which are some of the main transport modes around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. The monorail, public buses and taxis are other options to get around the city and Malaysia. Most rides are affordable.

There are 4 mobile telephone service providers – Maxis, Digi, Celcom and TM Point.

Health
Malaysia has very high standards of Medical facilities. Tap water in the hotel is potable and if desired, may be boiled prior to consumption.

Malaysia's voltage is 220-240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. Upon request, most hotels will provide transformers to visitors with electrical appliances of a different voltage, such as 110-120 volts, 60 cycles per second. When shopping for electrical appliances, do remember to check the voltage of the item against the voltage standard in your home country.
