It was ONE celebration filled with excitement as some 200 guests comprising of VIPs, corporate clients and members of the media gathered at the Grand Lobby of One World Hotel to celebrate the much-anticipated soft opening celebration of the latest, brand new luxury in the hospitality industry. And to mark the occasion even more memorable, 07-07-07 was made the auspicious date for this special occasion.
The new 5-star hotel strategically located in the heart of Petaling Jaya’s business and commercial district is adjoining to 1 Utama Shopping Centre, offering a new dimension in service and quality standards providing unequalled amenities and facilities.
Guests were invited to a cocktail reception hosted at The Sphere Lounge as they sashayed into the Grand Lobby featuring panels of spectacular chandeliers. With a sense of classical charm within a contemporary setting, guests enjoyed light canapés and mocktails while light jazz music filled the air.
At an investment of RM300 million, the 20-storey hotel was unveiled by Tan Sri Dato (DR) Teo Soo Cheng, Dato’ Teo Chiang Hong and General Manager, Mr. Ho Hoy Sum with an auspicious lion dance eye-painting ceremony.
In keeping with the Feng Shui tradition and the believe of lions having the mystical powers serving as a guardian to protect, the opening was celebrated with an Acrobatic Lion Dance performance by Kwong Ngai Lion Dance featuring a total of ‘8’ lions performing at once, depicting a sense of prosperity, growth, abundance of well wishes and blessings for the hotel and all guests.
Raising energy levels high was an ‘8’-piece drum performance by HANDS Percussion Team. More than just a lively act put-together, the sound of the 8 drums symbolises and represents a new beginning to the hotel business and the conjoining of the yin and yang provides blessings of the auspicious drumming energy.
A media tour was organised while other guests were pampered to a special buffet lunch reception at our visually-stunning restaurant, Cinnamon Coffeehouse, featuring local and international cuisine experiences in a single venue.
